Dinged? No msg back for like 2 weeks....
After the final interview I was told that I'd get a follow-up within a week or so. Haven't received anything for more than half a month. Is it legit to assume that I was dinged and look for some other job? Kinda screwed the interview so wasn't expecting that much but at least I wanted some e-mail saying that I was good but the competitors were better suited or blah blah
I would send a follow up email but don't get your hopes up. No one actually cares about people they aren't hiring since there are so many candidates and sending empty follow ups don't help them in their own careers.
I've had experiences when people say they will get back to me TOMORROW only to have radio silence, even after following up. I've had to learn this lesson the hardway, so now I NEVER stop the job search until they give me my first paycheck.
Sent one already right after getting the mail so think it would look too desperate... Didn't intend to stop my job search but was on kinda peace & rest mode for a while
I've had exactly this experience play out to me. I even sent a card. After 3 weeks past the interview date, I knew I was a goner so I sent another email, thinking my chances were already 0, and I just wanted a rejection for closure. Didn't even get that.
Think of it this way, if you really were the best guy to fill this position that they need, they would be the ones trying to keep in contact with you.
You have to remember to keep grinding this, even though it sucks and gets depressing. But there are thousands of people in the exact position. The only way you can make it is if you want it more than them and demonstrate that by always pushing onwards until everyone else has given up.
Thanks a lot. Will send an additional follow-up by probably end of this week or on the weekends. Wish you all luck too
Sent a follow-up mail. The recruiter said they had limited positions and more competitive candidates, etc. Thx for your support anyways.
That stinks but you have to keep at it. I like to think of it from the perspective that I'm just paying my dues now instead of later, when it will be even harder.
Hang in there OP. The same happen to me. The "loved me" and the VP said "what you'll be doing....." etc all throughout the interview. The flow was good, talked about their deals, sports, and everything else. I even wrote emails to each person. 2 weeks passes and nothing. I emailed HR and she says I wasn't picked, yet the job posting is still up even today. It's a dog eat dog world. Also they could be the types to "see what's out there.." A lot of companies post jobs to see who's good and searching.
