Dinner - "dress casual, jeans are ok"

So,

I have a dinner coming up the day before a superday with my #1 firm. This is for a summer internship in Houston.

I have been told that "dress is casual and jeans are ok"...

Do you think I am seriously supposed to wear jeans? I was planning on wearing a suit to dinner - I have done similar dinners and everyone is always in a suit or at least a sports coat.

Thanks!

This. Maybe pull the brown shoes/brown belt look, as brown TENDS to look a bit less formal/dressy than black. I would also put a tie in the suit pocket and check-in early to see if everyone else is wearing a tie. If so, go put on your tie quickly in the bathroom.

No brown shoes at night. No discussion. The tie advice is great, however.

I think it's worth saying here that this isn't some sort of weird test. They're not going to tell you that jeans are ok if they aren't.

They'll likely be more concerned with your ability to hold a conversation and not be a drone, than anything else. Overdressing isn't exactly the right move here. Be confident and you should be ok.
