Guys, I haven't been on here in a while. And by that, I mean maybe 3 weeks. As I go through the new format of the site and read some recent forum posts, nothing has changed. Too old for _? What should I wear? College ___ or college?
Starting a completely random thread - after your workday ends, what would you recommend for dinner, assuming you'd go home and cook it yourself?
I'll start. Make your standard BLT (bacon, lettuce, tomato for you foreigners), but make that a BALT (avocado) and use some sort of spicy or chipotle mayo. I like to use whole wheat bread, spinach for the lettuce (or a mix), and I like to cook the bacon but not until it's crispy. Not a fan of crispy bacon. That shit is the bee's knees, and it's a pretty cheap meal if you think of $ per serving.
I'm a big fan of breakfast food and I like to make omelettes for dinner. Quick and easy, and can make a wide variation with different meats. I generally use chicken, steak, lean ground turkey, or bacon for the protein and toppings vary from mushrooms, cheese, tomatoes, spinach, bell peppers, and onions.
How did you master the flip? I mastered it years ago but somehow forgot the art.

My omelettes just end up as scrambled eggs with meat, mushrooms, cheese, tomatoes, spinach, bell peppers, and onions. Tastes the same anyways, and I don't need a knife to cut.
Rice bowls are easy to make, add lettuce, tomato, red onion, cilantro, any meat (grilled, avocado or subsitute, drizzle olive oil, some lime, salt and pepper. Easy to make
TBH after my workday ends i usually have already eaten dinner and go to bed.... but on the few days my workday ends before dinner I try to hit the gym first and eat a later dinner full of calories and protein (this doesn't have to mean fat) - like a nice big chicken kabob plate, or chipotle, or a protein shake on the way to a place where i get salmon and veggies, or a steak plate. sumpin like that.
I never (read: except for 1 Sunday every month or two) make dinner. why should i when i get it reimbursed anyways?
after a hard day of work, if i feel like treating myself, i usually like going down on your mom for dinner.
Chicken breasts marinated in BBQ, and sweet potatos and broccoli on the side. As simple as it is tasty.
A fresh hamburger with a bunch of veggies.
Pan seared salmon and some sort of salad (not a boring salad).
I've done salmon several times. Urban Accents makes a "fisherman's wharf" season that is amazing on seafood and veges. I do the salmon and usually asparagus and then douse the seasoning over it all
Good call! I like to play around with salads just to add some variety, but any veges are good.
Mix up some dijon mustard and brown sugar and put it on top of salmon, throw it in the oven. Very easy and really good

) is what I thought of after reading this post.
Bison Fillet. Season with salt and pepper. Put olive oil in an already hot pan. Put garlic cloves (don't bother crushing or anything) and thyme sprigs in the oil and a bit of worcestershire sauce on the fillet. Sear the fillet on all sides, leaning the pan away from you so that the oil is all on the fillet and you're using the bottom and the sides of the pan. Throw a bit of butter in there and when it melts into the oil, continuously spoon it on top of the fillet.
After it is seared on all sides, put the garlic and the thyme in the middle of the pan like a nest and put the fillet on top. Then, put the whole pan into the oven until your desired done-ness. Take it out, put it on a cutting board, and cover with foil for 10 minutes. Then slice and eat.
Are you sure you're not Gordon Ramsey? That sounds amazing - definitely going to try that.

Agree 100%. His youtube channel has really amazing recipes from all cuisines. Of course, he won't walk you through it, but once you know the basics, you only need an iPad while you cook some amazing dishes.
I subscribe. Used to love his 3-5 minute cooking clips. Not a fan of his newer videos of him working with businesses
Definitely try to make your own pasta if you ever get around to it.

Medium steak topped with a pair of bulls-eyes, sunny side up, with a really small side of guacamole. Just a personal recipe of mine that I tried when I first dipped my toes into cooking, and loved the result.

Nothing quite like barbecuing a ribeye with grilled peppers or veggies. Sometimes will switch it up and just have some steak fries with the ribeye.
My Dad makes a mean braciola. Its meat stuffed with meat, cheese, and more meat. He soaks it in spaghetti sauce and viola. Its fairly simple and absolutely amazing.
