Disabilities on Application

Hi everyone,

I'm an undergrad student and I have major depression. On every application, they ask if you have any disabilities and major depression is listed as one of them. Should I disclose this on applications, or should I not include this information? I'm assuming it will only hurt my chances if I state that I have a disability. Am I wrong about that?

Thanks!

Not sure on your answer for that. But one of the best things I've learned is to not be too prideful to seek professional help. It's helped me out. And logically.. if you have a major sickness it's dumb to not see a professional doctor. Same goes for mental health.

Agree w/ SponsorPromote on it being important to get to the root of it so that you can fix it. If you're chasing IB, you're probably a pretty ambitious guy - leaving a depression problem unattended to is going to get in the way of your ambitions, so focus on taking care of it.

Preface this by saying that I'm not familiar w/ how HR views these things, but I would not include it. Unless there's some kind of affirmative action for ppl w/ disabilities that I'm not aware of, there are several ways in which disclosing that info can hurt your chances and no ways in which it will help them.
