Do full time analysts who fail training open up new spots in the class?
Hey all,
Quick question: If a handful or even a select few people from a full time IB analyst class fail out of training somehow or don't pass tests, would it then open up that number of spots for people to fill or would the firm just continue for the year with a few people short. Thank you all in advance.
In my class, no one failed the tests, and it was unlikely that you'd lose your place if you did. But these were more 'conceptual understanding' tests based on what we learnt during the training programme, rather than compulsory regulatory ones.

Can you fail training? Is this something any of you have ever seen happen?
lol. are you actually worried about this? How the hell did you break in if you're so thoroughly lacking in knowledge/competence?
Honestly, don't stress it... you'd have to be beyond awful to get fired before hitting the desk. If you're that concerned, take some self-help classes for the soft skills or buy Breaking Into Wall St. / Wall St Prep for the technicals...
I am confident and am more than capable. However, i am a worst case scenario kind of worrier. And i was genuinely curious if training is more training or more an overview and evaluation.
You can only fail the series exams a couple times. No one does though...
Some kids during training week go overboard in terms of drinking and partying. I'd say it happens on a regular basis with most banks - alcohol is ok but don't be "that guy" who almost got fired for overdoing it.
Not sure how true this is but...
In 2008, a friend of mine was hired for a FT analyst position (IBD) with a BB bank (Citi maybe, I forget). I was told any new hire who scored below a certain score during any of the exams during training were let go.
