Do I need a tote for work?

Women of WSO - what do you carry in your tote?

I'm interning at a bank that's in-person this summer so I am looking at past threads on what kind of purses to buy. I remember when I was work shadowing some of the women just rolled into the office with their wallets & keys in the morning. Do I need a huge tote at all / is there really that much stuff to carry around? It's not like I'll be carrying a laptop in and out every day. If I live within walking distance to the office no need to pack gym stuff either?
