Do Lazard really pay below street in London?
I've read and heard a lot about how Lazard pays relatively low compared to the bulge brackets and very low compared to the other top elite boutiques. However, I don't know if this information is true, outdated or false.
I was wondering if anyone has any insight/views on this?

Can't speak for London specifically, but in New York the pay is on par with BBs and below basically all EBs.

They pay on-par.
London, overall, is lower than NYC though (across most banks). Base London IB pay is around 50-55k GBP, and with the current exchange rate, that's about 30-36% below NYC base of 85k USD. However, some select shops in London will dispatch a larger bonus %.

Ah yes, I have heard before that some of the US BBs/EBs pay their bonuses in dollars globally and convert it to whatever currency the office has, so I assume in the case of London with the weak pound then the bonuses for those places will be a high due to the exchange rate. Not sure whether this is true at all though.

I assume originationmgmt meant they paid on par with the BBs in London, so I guess they also pay below other EBs in London too?
But yeah I don't know why considering Laz is one of the top performing EBs you'd expect them to pay above the BBs and on par with the other top EBs. I guess one possible reason is due to the prestige of Laz, with a name like them I guess they can afford to pay less as they know people will stay for the brand name/prestige. That's my guess.

Yup, top bucket last year was lower than bottom bucket at another EB

LZD in LDN pays 50-55k pounds, on par with the BBs. Some other EBs might pay more than that.
