NYC summer intern housing options and social life
I'll be working in FiDi this summer and weighing my options for housing, somewhere close to FiDi
1) University housing (NYU or New School)
Pros: have other interns around to hang out with
Cons: could be expensive
2) Sublet with someone
Pros: cheaper than NYU
Cons: none of my close friends are going to be in NYC this summer. my friend introduced me to a friend and we're potentially looking at housing together. I don't know her that well, and she prefers sharing a room as opposed to getting a 2BR apt, which is what I want.
3)Sublet by myself
Pros: single bedroom and cheaper than NYU
Cons: lonely
For those who have gone through the process -would you recommend getting university housing to be around other people? does it affect your social life that much? I want to be able to hang out with people if I can. Under normal circumstances I'd choose subletting if I were with a friend. I wish I knew the person I'm living with better...

currently desperate for housing. please help!
Chances are your going to be working most of the time so just pick the place that is closest to the office and has the nicest bedroom and ensuite, because, trust me, rest will become precious. (and a nice bedroom has other advantages!)
What did you end up doing? I'm in the same situation and am starting to look for housing now!
late reply so probably isn't helpful now, but I ended up subletting with someone and it went well! University housing would've been a good option too.
NYC Summer Intern Housing 2018: Any Advice? (Originally Posted: 12/11/2017)
Hi guys: I accepted an offer to intern as a CSRE Summer Analyst at Goldman Sachs' Jersey City tower (30 Hudson). For the summer, I want to live on the NYC/Manhattan side while commuting to Jersey City since Manhattan's where all the action is. I talked to multiple people I know who interned at GS Jersey City last summer and they lived in NYU housing, which is fine but I hear non NYU students generally don't get singles. Given that I have Aspergers Syndrome, I'd prefer a single room but obviously am aware that may not be possible given the dearth of affordable summer housing options in NYC. Thus, if I have to share a room with people, I thought an option like NYCIntern/Kings College's West Street building) might be best given it's proximity to the ferry to Jersey City and it's modern sleek appearance (for about the same cost as an NYU apartment).
So: My questions to you all are- 1) Are there any affordable single room housing options for NYC summer interns near Battery Park/Financial District? This would be my first priority given that my brain wiring/executive functioning skills are such that I'm not the most considerate roommate one can find (plus, if I end up wanting to bring someone back............) 2) I have had roommates before and wouldn't mind doing so again if the situation fit. So, if I need to have roommates, would it be better for me to live in NYU housing or at the aforementioned West Street building given commute time etc? I do want some sort of bar scene/nightlife nearby, but since it's NYC I feel like that can be found with minimal difficulty.... 3) Any other general advice you all may have regarding NYC summer housing would be welcome, also if you're looking for an NYC roommate Summer 2018, PM me and we can discuss if you feel like doing so 4) Any of you that have done housing through NYCIntern, especially West Street but other buildings too, what was your experience like?
Thanks!

You're welcome.
I'm in the same boat and was wondering what you ended up doing for housing and if you have any recommendations
Do many summer interns live in student housing? (Originally Posted: 11/24/2017)
I've heard of companies lodging their summer interns in downtown student housing. It would be great to live with interns from other companies.
Anyone ever do that or heard of this?
