One of my buddies works at a mid-tiered consulting firm (think Accenture, AT Kearny), he's been working from home for the past 8 months. Checks in the office every once in a while.

Baby you're the perfect shape, baby you're the perfect weight. Treat me like my birthday, I want it this way and I want it that way. It makes a man feel good baby.

Depends, it's always good to make facetime and network with other consultants and groups. Also, helps keep you off the bench because people know you're a decent person, so they might suggest you when the PM is looking for resources. I'll work from home off and on, as needed, and otherwise come in. Work with your coach on it, and balance it. There still is a stigma with some senior people about those who work from home, so it helps when you're new to dispell that until you build up a reputation.

As for weekends, depends on your project schedule. I've probably put in an average of 40hrs directly billable work most weeks, and an additional 10-12 non-billable (expenses, firm meetings, training etc.). That usually means a couple long days, or putting in a couple hours each weekend.

Although this last 5 week stint has been usually 60+ with a couple 2-3am nights and full 8-9hr weekend days. So it really depends, but at my firm we seem to aim for only a few late nights / or weekend a month...but as always, it's at discretion of the client, their dates, and what needs to get done.

Depends on industry/firm/strategy/level. I work for a mid tier firm and I am required to travel 90% for 3 months of the year and the remainder of the year I am required to travel about 50%.

The other 50% for the remaining 8 months I spend about 15% home, 20% office, 15% meetings/networking.

When I'm in between projects, I generally end up supporting a proposal. The hours are often worse than on a client project because the deadlines are so close, there are tons of partners involved, and since you're only working on it for a week or two, managers and partners treat it as a transactional experience and have no qualms about working their people very hard. Plus, there's a 7 figure carrot out there for the partner in terms of a revenue credit.

If by the grace of Jesus I've managed to avoid a proposal, I'm staying the fuck in bed until 10 (hitting snooze and checking email every hour after 8 to ensure I'm clear) and watching Netflix as long as possible.
