Honestly, if you can't even face hirevues which are the most basic questions, you don't deserve to sit for a live interview. Are you lazy? Unprepared? Think you can pay your way in? These are the questions that come to mind.

For interview prep, you can do this on your own time, look up the most common questions for the firm and just practice with friends or peers or at the career office. I'm sure people would pay for something like that if they want to throw money away.

If you're paying people to try to sidestep the Hirevue process you suffer from both a severe lack of character and stupidity, and therefore don't belong in finance. Period. It's literally the most basic shit.

Granted there's plenty of people who both lack character and are stupid in finance, but they will get weeded out in the end.

I just feel like 99% of SA/FT kids networked their way in through alumni or knowing someone and the hirevue is just checking the box. You're telling me people actually sit down and base a part of their decision to move forward with someone off of these? I've never heard of these having any sort of impact

Interview questions on your computer. You get a question prompt, 30 seconds to prepare an answer, and then a minute to give your answer to the camera recording you. It is extremely cold and uncomfortable for a lot of people. I thrive in live interviews and got my IB spot on my first live interview. I did a HireVue for JP Morgan and did awful. You're worried about lighting, looking at the camera, there's no body language to gauge the direction of your answer. They're garbo.

Jesus that sounds lame. So a bank will make you do that before a real interview, and they will watch these answers and then decide if you get a next round?

And what would people be "buying / selling" just the specific questions they got from a particular company? Seems odd, how many unknown questions can there really be.

Yes, in front of Bocconi University there is a paper ad with the phone number, someone is selling 2020 hirevues for all major banks in London. Price Tier1 20 EUR per hirevue, the rest 10 EUR. All with the proof.

Situation in Italy is very specific and students try to take every chance to land an offer in London. If you dont manage to do that you will unfortunately have to work 09-23 for 1700 EUR net per month at Unicredit IBD division in Milan.
