Do Your MDs Make Changes in Your PowerPoint Presentation on Dropbox ?

Ok, so my company uses Dropbox to share files amoungst the team, so anyone on the team can access and make edits in real time. But I’m really losing my mind over this issue.

I create a presentation v20 or whatever, the MD says we might get some edits from the client. Then he gets the edits from the client over the phone (I’m not on the call obviously), then creates his own version on Dropbox, ex. V21 and start making changes himself. Then 3 hours before the presentation wants me to edit his version for like small formatting things (move lines here, etc.). I’m confused the whole time because I see some pages edited over and changed and don’t know if it’s a mistake or if the client wanted it. So I freak out and start asking if this or that was right on preso or if he made the change or not—very confusing. I’m a first year analyst, and we don’t have associates at my level.

Anyways, can you guys tell me if I’m crazy to think that an MD should just send me his edits and tell me to make changes myself, so that it’s all congruent and consistent when it’s about to be printed ?

I guess one other issue I have is that my MD never brings analysts on the client calls or cc’s analysts when emailing clients. So every time we work on something, it’s always like “need to confirm with client.” Then the MD confirms with the client and doesn’t tell us. So we are never really sure what’s been confirmed or not or if the numbers are final or not.

No yea for sure. I can see his version and edit on top of it. But when I start proofreading, obviously it’s different from what I read last time. So I raise a question whether this makes sense or not. For example, he gets some additional info from a client, so I don’t know if he meant to make those edits or not because I didn’t get the updated info (since I wasn’t on the call).
