Documentary about impressive luxury estates - Any experiences?

Hello to all. I've recently seen a documentary about gigantic luxurious properties the other day...it was really impressive to see what crazy houses exist worldwide… And of course, there is always a way how to increase the value of the property even further. Well, I wonder how somebody can afford such a huge house without winning the lottery... :-)

But in any case, I was very impressed by all the features, such as indoor pools, own huge golf courses, small beach sections with garden “cottages”, the best and greatest entertaining systems I’ve ever seen - and of course cars upon cars!! Ok, sure, those people are just the absolute super billionaires - but some things you could also implement in your own four walls, as I’ve seen. Well, I don't have my own section of the beach – unfortunately… - but some of the interior design ideas really appeal to me. ;-)

Now, just out of interest, I wanted to ask you guys if you know of any other documentary films like the one I’ve watched (I actually only came across the documentary by chance)… firstly, because I always find them quite impressive and secondly, because I would like to have more inspiration for what you could possibly implement at home. Especially everything that has to do with technology I am interested in.

Maybe someone even has some ideas and experiences. :-) I'm looking forward to your answers. Thanks in advance! :-)

bruno.bittercourt79, shame nobody has responded. Maybe one of these topics will help:

Winning the lottery will not really be enough. You need a steady income. A house like this comes with some costs. I strongly assume that these houses will also have a pool and garden area. You certainly don't want to lend a hand yourself. Then of course the running costs and taxes. With a lottery win you can then possibly buy the house, but you have to be able to afford the maintenance first. If new money doesn't keep coming in, the lottery win will soon be gone. I actually only look at these documentaries to wonder what people find beautiful. There are really bizarre examples of taste or a tendency towards useless things. Of course, some things are also very exciting and you would like to have something like this yourself. I once saw a house that had a gigantic TV in the outdoor area. The television was pulled out of the ground and then opened a screen. The television was completely invisible when you weren't using it. That fascinated me. These TVs are from C-Seed and have a diagonal of up to 201 ". I could imagine such a TV in my garden :) You can find some real estate agents on YouTube who are constantly presenting new houses. You can then easily search for the desired region and thanks to the algorithm, new videos will always come up. I don't know any real documentaries but such videos are always nice to watch. Every now and then you can really take something with you for your home and turn it on.

I'm not sure about ideas for that things to put in your house but if you are interested in design the following documentaries are great:

Netflix's Abstract

Eames

Barbicania

Amazing Interiors (possibly the closest to your request as its residential and often contemporary)

Urbanized (although at only 9 years old seems a bit outdated given what has happened)

Many more great design related documentaries but I figured these are the most real estate related without going full blown civil engineering/city planning. (Citizen Jane is great for city planning but I suggest reading her book, Life and Death of Great American Cities, first)

Hi guys, thank you for the replies! :D

@WSO Monkey Bot, thanks god someone else still replied. :-) Thanks for the links as well. That wasn't what I was looking for though. :O Anyways, I won't blame the programmers...;-)

@pachomyus, ok, winning the lottery might not be enough, but it would be the first step! :D I just always think that with such a mega house you're actually set for life. Because if you really don't have any more money, you can sell the house and be filthy rich again. That's how I imagine it - but maybe I'm a little naive. :-) I completely ignored the maintenance of the house, for example. Presumably you also have to include a lot of money for butlers, gardeners and cleaning teams. At least that's how I've always seen it in the films/documentaries… Whether that reflects reality is another question altogether. :-)

I don't really know my way around this society to be honest. Nevertheless, I find such documentaries quite fascinating. And, as I said, one or two ideas can easily be copied at home. Not everything has to be made of gold or whatever… ;-) But yes, there are some really impressive things that you can find in such luxury estates. You've noticed that yourself, I see. :-)

Thanks for the tip about the estate agents on YouTube that present new houses. I'll have a look at a few videos. I just hope that the houses are already nicely furnished, where you can pick up a few things as well… :-)

@SBH, that's exactly what I was looking for, great, thanks for the tips. I'll have a lot to look at over the next few days. :D Thanks also for the book recommendations. I've been reading so little lately anyway. But when I find a topic that interests me, I like reading these books even more.

Thank you for the tips and answers! I'm looking forward to seeing what I can find. Happy New Year already! :D
