Does anyone else enjoy recruiting?
Before you monkeys start going all keyboard warrior mode about how technical prep, networking, and constantly applying sucks, let me clarify what I mean.
I enjoy the idea of not being tied down to a specific job and industry. For example, when I was recruiting out of undergrad, I liked the fact that I had the freedom to pick and choose and explore different options. It was this idea that I could potentially do anything or go anywhere that was super exciting me.
I felt this way back in high school as well when it came time to research universities and decide where to attend. You are learning about different programs, envisioning what life could be like at any particular place, thinking about the different avenues that I could take, etc.
Don't get me wrong, having to make the tough decision in the end wasn't very enjoyable for me. However, up until that point, I really enjoyed the process.
Am I the only one who feels like this? Does anyone else get excited about the idea of recruiting and exploring different options?
On a side note, does this translate to a particular career path that I could pursue? I would love to have a similar theme like this in the finance world.
I think people get excited after seeing a bunch of cool jobs advertised, but then heartbroken when they can barely get a call back and then it just becomes blasting resumes everywhere until statistically you have to get an offer or two, which weren't necessarily your first picks.
