Does anyone else here get discouraged?

I am only a sophomore, currently sending my resume to as many internships as I can find in a variety of fields -- IB, AM, consulting etc. Really just need something to put on my resume. The thing is, the IB internships mostly don't take sophomores, and those that do are so competitive I don't think I have much of a chance. All the AM internships have requirements that include extensive knowledge of programming, which I do not have. I just feel increasingly like my (relatively) average GPA and major aren't really going to get me anywhere. Do you guys feel the same way? Or are you all the matlab/python/sql knowing bunch that is going to kick my ass?!

You're right, most of the IB/consulting sophomore internships are ridiculously competitive, or are generally for URMs. I'd expand your scope to include F500s and more boutique shops. You really just need the experience doing SOMETHING during your sophomore summer. Go after what you want, but a F500, or even F1000, internship would still be great for your resume when SA recruitment comes around.
