Does anyone else worry about not making it even though you're doing everything right?

I was wondering if others can relate to this. I feel like I did everything I could. I got great grades and test scores in high school. Then I went to a semi-target, got a strong GPA and ECs with good work experience. However, I didn't do well with Spring IB recruiting and now am worried that I'm not going to have much luck with the remaining banks in the Fall.

What part of the recruiting process is not going well for you? Interviews? Networking? What year are you? This could be a big factor as well. What banks are you aiming for? BB? MM? EB?

Few tips: 1. Don't get discouraged it took me 9 months to get my offer. Just keep doing everything right and something will break eventually. 2. Keep following up with the people you have already networked with and continue to expand your horizon. I know we focus on banking, but there are other great options that are great laterals at a later date. 3. Don't stop learning. I know it can get discouraging, but you need to keep developing your edge. Always keep grinding and getting better.

You definitely could have luck with banks in the fall! Just stay the course.

  1. A little bit of both in terms of networking and interviews. I haven't bee able to form strong connections and haven't been able to advance to Superdays for the interviews I had.
  2. Just finishing sophomore year, so currently going through 2020 SA recruiting.
  3. Aiming for all of the above, BB, EB, and MM. I'm not trying to be picky.

I feel like I need to pick it up since EBs may be done before the Fall.

Good news first. You are a sophomore you still have time (Go keep checking out the 2020 SA recruiting thread). Also, personally I feel like you may connect better with analyst as you get older as well.

Just keep practicing interview Q&As and I would look for banks that maybe are considered as top tier and you may find the analyst more helpful. Even if they can't give you a job, it gives you a chance to get out all your nerves and stupid questions on a bank that isn't your top choice.

I repeat what I said above. Don't get discouraged, something will break eventually.
