Does anyone know anything about the Versailles Group in Boston/Chicago?
It is a boutique investment bank located in Boston and Chicago. I couldn't really get the legitimacy of the firm from their website, so I would appreciate it if anyone has any insights. This is for a possible summer internship. Thanks!
Their one associate lists; she is a Chinese Hard-Tipped Pen Calligraphy enthusiast ... you might not be able to top that.
TippyTop11 Lmao I'm slight sketched out that they don't have much information online. Their founder/MD told me that they are really small and are transitioning to become a virtual firm. Any idea wth that means?
By virtual, I'm guessing they would outsource all modeling and presentation building probably to India, and have no physical office but just rent a place for meetings and people work remotely? If it pays and is your best SA offer take it, and leverage any contacts they may have for something else FT. Eyebrow raising for sure. Guessing dealflow is so low they can't afford overhead.
I've seen a guy from Amherst that did a sophomore internship there. He's a pretty smart guy, from what I know of him.
One of my friends actually did their sophomore internship there. From what I understand, it's a very small shop with a single managing director, an associate, and a few people who essentially work part-time remotely. Their deals are usually in the $5 to 25 million range, and there's essentially no modeling, since you don't need it with deals that size. They used to have a decent office in Boston before moving to Chicago though. And my friend says that the MD was a pretty chill and friendly dude, which does matter a lot when the firm is this small.
Apparently, the work experience wasn't super meaningful. The internships are unpaid, and you mostly just sit around not doing much. But truth be told, most people's sophomore internships are like that. You work for free at a boutique in your sophomore year just so you can put the experience on your resume and demonstrate an interest in finance. That's certainly what I did.
Update in 2020: this place sells internships to international students who need ib internships bad. Avoid.
Saw this thread in 2021 and I needed to chip in. This firm sells internships to Chinese international students. Look at their intern pool on Linkedin. Avoid joining this firm and AlphaCapital. Recruiters have been notified of these few paid internship firms.
Second this because it's 100% true.
