Yes, it's one of the bigger names, up there with Battery and Sequoia. Good luck getting in though.
Yes. They backed Skype, Baidu, Hotmail, among others. Pretty well respected on Sandhill Rd.
DFJ is a superb shop. Gets a lot of respect.
i just randomly got an interview with them..:P
but not too excited tho..i'm 29 years old and about to apply to bschool...and my chances of actually landing the job is slim anyway...my work experience is mediocre.

what are they looking for exactly? wondering about this, have a phone interview w/them soon. applying for an analyst position
My cousin is close with two of the partners. Highly respected shop indeed, really top guys.
Make sure that you can demonstrate to them that you are passionate about tech. Have an opinion on some of the hotter VC backed companies, which ones do you like/dislike. Understand how VC works. What types of terms are included in their deals? How do they look at valuations? What traits are they looking for in potential investments? How can they help companies grow faster?
DFJ is a great shop and from what I've heard a pretty good place to work. Many of their pre-MBAs have gone on to Stanford GSB after a stint at DFJ.
Also, make sure to get confirmation which fund you are interviewing for. They have their primary VC fund, a growth equity fund and then several affiliated funds, like DFJ Mercury, among others.

has anyone interviewed with them? any info on the interview process, or what they are looking for?
This firm uses a shotgun investment approach. They are not afraid to take risks. This might be reflected in the people they look for.

I know that the main DFJ office in the bay area has a great reputation and is considered one of the top VC firms. Does anyone have any info on the global network? Similar rep/quality of people and investments?
The DFJ Mercury guys (in Texas) also have a great reputation, and they are all extremely bright.

Do you know which recruiter accepts applications behalf of DFJ for their VC associate role?
Have you been through the interview process before and would be kind enough to share your experience?
I am waiting to set up an informational meetup with a current DFJ employee, and want to get the ball rolling on understanding the firm / setting up interviews.
Thanks in advance for your help
3) Does Don Draper work there?
Just email draper. He got back to me within a day when I emailed him.

Can anyone comment on the process for applying to DFJ - is it through outside recruiters or through DFJ employees' current networks?
All I can say is that their online application yielded nothing for me.
I'm thinking at that level (top VCs), you need to be either a superstar in one of their or their competitor's portfolio companies (for that succulent operational experience) or you need to be solicited by a recruiter at a BB. A lot of their Associates/Professionals have experience at a large bank/a start-up, so that's how I'm surmising these conjectures.
Draper Fisher Jurvetson pre-MBA analyst or IB or both? (Originally Posted: 03/29/2010)
Anyone have insights in to DFJ pre-mba analyst positions? I hear they are a respected growth VC shop like Sequoia but I'm no sure how they compare to a BB position.
I think it's rare to join that shop without prior consulting or IB experience b/c they state it as preferred, but should one go IB first than go VC (like DFJ) similar to IB to PE prior MBA? If given an offer at DFJ pre-mba analyst vs. good HK BB in IB out of undergrad, which should one choose to maximize career potential?
