Does anyone know which banks use bloomberg/factset/capital IQ?
Obviously every bank uses one of the three. But, which is the most prevalent? Anyone have experience from their bank?

BarCap uses Thomson. My feeling is that FactSet is most common in Research, but I could be wrong. Bloomberg is significantly more expensive than the others, and I think that when you add in sector-specific data services, the price becomes harder to justify.
That being said, I would love to have my own Bloomberg.
FactSet is not significantly more expensive than Bloomberg. In fact, they're borderline identical in price.
You should slow down when you read. I said that Bloomberg is more expensive. On a single license basis, the price difference might not be huge, but for an institution, like a bank, that has hundreds of licenses, factset gives volume price breaks, where Bloomberg does not. Makes a huge difference.
Sorry, typo. I meant Bloomberg is not significantly more expensive than Factset. My bad.
And the price difference is virtually non-existent AFAIK. Doesn't really matter. When it comes to data access one should not be saving pennies and hampering the division's processes. One is clearly worse than the other and I'm sure you know which one.
Oh, and no. Factset is not the most common in research.
I'm not disagreeing that Bloomberg is better than any of these other platforms. I said that I would love to have a Bloomberg terminal if I had my choice. If factset isn't most common, then what is? Can you provide examples of what other research shops are using?
