Most likely to become obsolete for the normal family as millennials and the new generation always have their smartphones on them. My parents do still have one though

It has been 15 years since I had a landline phone.

For personal use they are irrelevant.

Absolutely essential in the office though. The most robust method available for talking with colleagues in different offices.

I have a landline and I still use it. I can't think of any reason why I prefer using it at home instead of my cellphone, but I do.

Yes- a lot of my friends and family still call me on my home phone. I sometimes give my home number to places I don't want to call me on my cell. Prefer not to be accessible 24/7.
