first off this is not a very well thought out question.
The only difference between an elite program over non elite program is the recruiting. (GS recruits at Harvard), (little no name boutique will look at Northern Iowa University). As far as the education quality, it is about the same as far as material goes; both colleges will take you through DCF modeling, calculating z spreads on t-bills, etc. Harvard will of course be able to attract a much more qualified person to teach it to you then NIU. If you are someone that can learn the material, read and understand your books; you will come out with the same exact knowledge out of NIU or Harvard. There are pros and cons for Harvard over NIU. Pro for Harvard: the recruiting is the best, you can have a fair shot at any BB slot you want if you know your material and are a hard worker. Pro for NIU: you will save a large sum of money with regards to tuition.
If GS interviews 30 people at Harvard for 10 spots and 10 have 3.8+ 10 have 3.5 + and 10 are below 3.5 and above 3.2, they will probably hire 7 3.8+, 2 3.5+, and 1 3.0+ so if u got the 3.2, you better be better than the rest of the 3.2s applying for the spot
(keep in mind I am not associated with NIU, Harvard, or GS in any way other than have close friends that went through any and all of the above)
Actually Harvard MBA's aren't allowed to put their GPA on their resumes but nice try.
I did not know that. Keep in mind I am just estimating what the average BB recruiting looks like, not to mention I only used Harvard as an "elite" example.
What happens if a company asks a Harvard candidate about GPA or grades in general during the interview?
