Does it make sense to move to MM IB senior analyst role after 3yrs Big 4 & 2-3 yrs Corporate?

Hi guys

Have been offered opportunity to interview for an MM IB as senior analyst and wondering whether to take the opportunity.

It's a North American MM player with name recognition and good deal flow in UK (volume wise alongside Top10 accountant firms but not big value wise).

The pay is around 62PS & significant bonus (recruiter says upto around 100%) with potential for rapid progression to Associate level.

Currently earning 60PS & 15% in my large corporate.

End goal is to be CFO of SME type business most likely (or be more of an interim CFO for portcos at PE).

Other options are to go down Strategic Finance / Finance integration manager type roles paying around 75PS and 10-20% bonus.

LinkedIn shows that previous employees (analyst and associate) have moved to MM PE so that could potentially be an option that wouldn't be on table previously.

Happy to share name if anyone is familiar with MM scene. for reference its in the league of Stifel, BMO, Piper Jeffrey etc. Full service market offering (WM, AM, ECM/DCM etc)

Many thanks

I mean, if you like IB and think that it will be a good stepping stone, then go for it. just remember that at your age, technically you should at least be an associate, if not a VP. but like, if you are ok with the work and the hours, then go for it. But if it were me, I wouldn't do it,

guess the question is whether that experience would be more valued than some of the above mentioned options (or even something like standard FP&A manager type role).

id imagine it would be taken into account whatever the next role after would be.

on the otherhand if we look at USA most associates are post MBAs are 30/31 which is presumably what id be as an associate if i were to get the job there...either way im still an analyst at my firm (although tbf various circumstances led to this point in life...finishing uni + 1 yr, doing non finance work for 1 yr, taking career break in the middle etc...)

guess the real qs is whether the hours are really as brutal as people keep saying here or whether they have an okay culture....but as a big name MM thats probably not going to be the case...
