So i'm at a BB in Finance been there 2 years (development program just ended) . Am having troubles with the boss since things didn't start off on the right foot when i joined his group early this year. so now am thinking about leaving since the program is over and i've gotten a solid offer as a senior analyst at a bank but one of those banks that was dealing in MBS so not too great of a place. what should i do because i feel that if i stay he'll show me the door soon.... but will it be hard to bounce back from a a troubled bank like the one i got an offer from?
wasn't almost every bank involved with MBS at some stage?? In particular, wasnt Goldman Sachs involved with MBS (Abacus Fund + Fabrice Tourre)?? GS sounds good to me, i wouldnt be turned off by the negative press. Unless, i'm missing something....
You'll be fine pursuing the new opportunity. Most banks had involved in MBS and/or other derivative products, and most banks have seen better days. If the bank is hiring and has made you an offer, it is because they need help.
Look at it as a fresh start and an opportunity to not feel like you're about to be fired in a week - your experience with the new employer will be much more important than whether the bank was involved in MBS or not.
