Corvette. No.
Any car that will drive me away from the pointless threads and "official" rankings on this Investment Banking forum
I second that sir
1968 jaguar xke and no
Second favorite
Good thread. Audi A6/7
I drive this car's tier as a college kid
Audi A6/A7 is your DREAM car? C'mon. If you said Audi R8 or RS7 then I get it.
soy boys be like "yA mAN aNy1tHinG prAct1cAl w0rKs! f0r mE!!!"
yeah exactly - I'm glad you wrote this as I was slightly confused too

Any car that screams prestige, power and waspy.
The Pontiac Aztek screams prestige, power, and WASPY?
yes walter white, yes it does

Either the new Tesla Roadster or the Lexus LF LC (bonus if they end up remaking it as an electric car).
"Love doesn't exist, that's what I'm trying to tell you guys. And I'm not picking on love, 'cause I don't think friendship exists either" - Owen Wilson
Any news on the Roadster?
I haven't heard or read much about it recently, although supposedly it was announced it would come to market by the end of this year (not sure if this will be pushed back due to the virus).
Here are some quick facts if you're interested:

Porsche Mission E looks pretty cool. Need more practicality though, so perhaps a Volvo XC90 Excellence.
Huh, starting 48K? Not bad but Cadillac XT5 ranks higher and I thought quality of Cadillac been diminishing over the years.
XC90 Excellence package starts at $90k
Mazda Miata
Maclaren P1
Aston Martin DBS
I'm more of a DB5 type of guy
Legendary model. What I'd give even for a test drive in a DB5....
Porsche 911 GT3 RS. I know, I know, I have good taste.
SBd but I'm more of a 911 GT2 RS type of guy
thots & prayers
Agree with both, can't forget about the Carrera GT though.
+1 for Porsche, though personally I reckon I'd just go for the "standard" GT3 on the basis of more understated looks than the RS and an engine noise that's leagues above the GT2.
This is my Dream car as well. I don't think there's anything better all around, especially for the price. The Turbo S is a great competitor if you want something softer and just as fast.
Some people may quote track times of the GT3RS being faster but I would bet quite a lot of money that for 99% of this forum, the limiting factor is their driving ability.. not the difference between a Turbo S and GT3RS
GT2 RS is always special too. And the 993 GT2, aka the "Widow Maker". I'm a big Porsche fan. My dad had a 912 while I was growing up. Sold it, bought a 1984 SC. Then he wanted a car both him and my mom could enjoy on long drives to San Diego so he got a Panamera 4S. The Supercarrera was cool and fun, but no ABS/ no traction control/ no power steering/ and suspension purely focused on performance makes driving it get old as you get older
GS / JPM / MS
A70 Toyota Supra.
My Dad had two of these back in the day, a white one and then a red one. Legendary coupe.
Mclaren F1 or an SLR Mclaren
catch me in a lambo, doing numbers
Audi r8
That's got to be the Fiat Multipla.
Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Sedan, not yet
To be able to own a mint low mileage unmolested S2000 again. And no, prob will never happen.
There's always a few that pop up on Bring a Trailer every now and then.
There are two on here under 5K miles, a few others under 10K
There is hope .......

macan/cayenne turbo s
yes I'm a soccer mom
Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing
Totally different cars, but this or the CLK GTR
Ferrari f12 N- Largo
Just crossed the final dream car off my list. Driven everything else I want (911s, Bents, McLaurens), now I own her and my regular weekday vehicle. Needs some mods for long term offroading but so far this has been a blast taking to the beach.

Drive her in good health - beautiful.
Porsche 911 reimagined by Singer... absolute car porn
Ah! I see you're a man of culture.
I don't know... Yeah. Almost definitely yes.
I was just about to say the same. I could not agree more with you on this one! Great choice
I dislike driving and traffic. So any Transformer that self drives and gets me out of a traffic jam will be my dream car. No, I have not made the purchase.
Surprised it has not yet been mentioned - Ferrari F40. No, I unfortunately cannot afford one, yet.
Old school: 1965 Shelby Cobra Backdraft
New school for show: Bugatti Chiron would be fun to open up on a highway but can't go wrong with a red Ferrari. I like the Enzo models - little different look to them.
For every day: Black Mercedes G Wagon
Mercedese AMG E63s
Mercedes SL300 (W198)
Ferrari FF
Honda Odyssey
Honestly, I'm in love with the new Corvette Stingrays - very sexy. There's a white one with a black stripe down the center of the hood in my neighborhood - you can't not stop and stare when she passes...
BMW 507
Mazda RX-7 FD with a 3 rotor or a Lamborghini Gallardo STS....love the wing and color combo.
A BMW Z8 Alpina or an F-Type SVR
Always been a sucker for Paganini, the Huayra is goals. definitely do not have one
Pagani Huayra coupe with the gullwings doors is definitely one of my favorites since Horacio Pagani was working at Lamborghini and left. I was surprised that it wasn't included in the roadster. Zonda Cinque Roadster or Lamborghini Veneno is my favorite. I highly doubt any of those cars will ever be for sale ever in life. Zondas are illegal in the U.S.A.
It'd be pretty difficult to put gullwing doors on a convertible by design, since the roof has to fold away. Would be pretty cool to see a Huayra with no doors bombing around like an off-road Jeep.
Just remember: it's not a lie if you believe it.
The new mid-engine C8 Corvette. Not in the budget yet
That car is actually nuts. About 60 grand but 2.9s 0-60
An Uber
Top pick would be a Lexus LFA. Those things sound angelic. Something more practical for daily use would be an M3 or M2 manual. Maybe an RS 6 Avant - always been a sucker for wagons.
And just to toss it out there an Aprilia RSV4 for my 2 wheeled itch :)
+1 For the RS6 Avant, such a beaut
For sure dude. My first car was a Subaru Legacy GT wagon manual, loved that thing. Drove like a go-kart. Been a sucker since for wagons - glad the RS6 is finally in the US lol.
Mclaren GT, Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, BMW M8 Gran Coupe w/ Competition Package, Lamborghini Aventador S LP740 Coupe...currently have an M4
S500 with driver
Porsche GT3 Touring for the weekend
Land Rover Discovery for the wife
Good taste
You're romanticizing about the material objects commonly associated with the banker lifestyle. I'm deep in the E, applying validation to cells with triple nested conditional and indirect functions then writing my own macros on-the-fly before sending up to my father for comments. **There is a difference. ** Cute of you to adopt the lusory attitude, but it lands you no closer to the prolusory goal. IMO, the best part about being at a capital-T Target isn't the network, or shortcut to superdays...but the peer pressure that drives constant competition because if you're not getting better than you're getting worse. Oh & to answer the initial question, I drove an X5 in prep school and had some fond memories. It sufficed.
Dream- Ferrari LaFerrari
Current- BMW M3 Competition
thots & prayers
How I envy you. I hope you drive her daily and have taken her on some long hauls.
It is my daily....i've put 29,000 miles on it in 2.5 yrs
and gone through countless sets of tires haha
thots & prayers
The 458 is absolutely stunning. It sucks that you cant just buy it outright, but have to have purchased prior models now. Seems to be Ferrari's new policy, although this is all secondhand knowledge (as a first year analyst I have never seriously considered buying anything from Ferrari).
I have always loved the RS6. Shit on wagons all you want, that car is so fucking practical, drives perfectly, and still rips. Plus it is so low key that many will write it off as a relatively regular car. That twin-turbo charged V8 though.... Makes me drool.
Although not a huge BMW guy, I have always dreamed of owning a E46 M3. This is a pretty generic response, as it is one of the more popular models. Still deserving of the recognition in my opinion.
Ideally, I would have 2-3 cars, while all under 100k a piece, that is truly my dream. I don't see the need for 100k+ vehicles. I am not a racer, I will rarely exceed 100 mph, unless I'm on a track. However a practical car with some nice pick up and a sexy sounding engine would be awesome.
Not to stray to far from OPs, question, but it would be fun to see a thread of the most overrated cars.
AMG GTS pre or post facelift
Porsche 964 would do the trick.
In the meantime my Mazda3 has been keeping me happy
Porsche 911 GTS, BMW M4, Mercedes AMG GTR, or a Mercedes S63 Convertible. All German over here.
My dream car definitely has to be a Rolls Royce Ghost or Wraith. I can't believe no one has mentioned a Rolls yet as their dream car.
Lamborghini Révénton. Not yet.
S63 AMG. Nope still in school. Sat in one at a dealership and want it even more.
a Koenigsegg
Once Android Auto/Apple Carplay was released, it pretty much made me not want any car older than a 2017 model for any daily use. Track cars are track cars.
Array
I have some favorites:
M2, M3, M4, M5
Lotus Evora 400
Lamborghinis
Ford GT
Bugatti Chiron
Old NSX and new NSX
1963 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso
1965 Shelby Cobra
Ferrari Enzo
LaFerrari
Jeep Tomahawk (I like the sleeper concept)
I'm probably forgetting some.
I drove the Lotus Elise years ago and had a lot of fun driving that car. It is like a street legal go cart. The interior is bare, but the skidpad is an amazing 1.03g so handling is superior. This car doesn't have a lot of go compared to others, but the new Lotus Evora is a lot quicker. Not super quick, but better.
I like the handling aspect as it is so much fun and you can just kill it on corners driving around or going to an overpass or exit. I feel like the drag strip specialist cars like the GTR are great, but you just can't exploit that power and go of the car without immediately being in 'you're going to jail' ticket ranges from the cops.
Of course, with a supercar you have everything. It would be nice having a 10 car garage and just being able to choose. I feel like at some point between having 1 car and 10, you have to make the decision to not donate to charity and be selfish for whatever reason. Or at least thats the rationale that comes up in my mind. Is this purchase really benefiting the world? Maybe you believe in the high end artisan that makes the Ferrari leather and feel it is supporting him. When spending so much money on cars, I think there has to be a thought process there. I probably couldn't ever go to the race track as I've heard its just a massive money pit. Is it worth it? Maybe. It all sure looks super cool. I've been into cars my whole life. They are incredible machines - we live in incredible times.
"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee
Mclaren P1
yes - this - I forgot this on my list, but have heard this is an AMAZING car to drive
"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee
M3 CSL, NSX NA1 or 911 GT3 (Not RS cuz cmon, who really needs a roll cage?)
dream hypercar would have to be the Enzo - Pure thing of beauty.
"They say money can't buy happiness? Look at the fuckin' smile on my face. Ear to ear, baby!" - Boiler Room
I need the roll cage GT3 RS ftw
thots & prayers
In terms of biggest automotive flexes, I'd say managing to get street legal conversion of the old GT1 cars from the 00s (Murci SV GT1, MC12 corsa GT1, 550 GTC, 911 GT1 etc...) has to be up there, both because of the physical presence and legal difficulty.
Also something like a Porsche 917 for the same reasons
I'm amazed that we've seen two McLaren P1 comments, but since we're all daydreaming about price is no object cars, nobody's mentioned the big daddy.
If I could have any car I'd take a McLaren F1. Weighs less than a Miata, 3 seats, decent cargo space, and oh, did I mention the 600HP V12? I love that everything is manual, it doesn't even have ABS. Also, for a 30 year old car it still looks modern. Car guys get what it is, but for others it's just a 'nice looking sportscar.'
From a more attainable (not $12M car) standpoint, I'd take a Cadillac CTS-V wagon with the manual in black. There is something awesome about having a C5 Corvette station wagon that nobody's expecting. I'd also like a Caterham.
Current car: ND Miata in candy apple red.
Oh,I don't want it, because having a F1 team follow you around all the time is a pain, but everybody should check out the Renault Espace F1. It is bonkers, and I love it. Frankensteining a F1 car to a minivan must have been something they came up with at a bar one night.
911 Turbo S. Everyday super car.
I see all of these whips @Rutgers.
I'd be amazed if you saw a McLaren F1 at Rutgers (Presuming the New Brunswick campus, but even less likely at Newark or Camden) Given that they made 106 of them. Just go back to the grease trucks and order another fat sandwich. (I like the Fat Darrell)
Bugatti Chiron (Sports Edition)
Affordable one - Ford Mustang
(Probably) not affordable - Lamborghini Huracan
Always wanted a rolls royce, but I love the 458 Ferrari and Lambo Gallardo.
I think if I had to choose a few cars, I would probably do a:
Daily Drive: Mercedes GLE43, G55 or Porsche Cayenne S
Sports Car/ Friday/Saturday Car: Porsche 911 (4/4S/Turbo) or Ferrari F8
Classic: Either an 60-70s Mustang, or maybe an 50s-2010s Mercedes or Rolls.
Current car is a MB GLC
