What is/are your dream retirement locations - could be anywhere in the world. For me, I would love to have a super nice villa in Tuscany where I can chill & relax, and then another place In NYC just because going into the city every now and then would be enjoyable

NYC + beach house in SoCal and/or SC
If I had to say a European getaway, it would have to be Valencia, Spain.
UAE, no taxes on anything. Can get a 10k square foot villa for a reasonable amount. Can get a driver, cleaners for $500 a month. Also save up for a summer home in Switzerland and you’re golden.
Lisbon or Ibiza
My girlfriend and I have a goal of saving up for an vacation/retirement get-away villa in the Tuscany region as well. Wouldn’t mind one in the Northern region either though, Lake Maggiore, Garda, or Como.
We’ve talked about some other spots around the Mediterranean, Portugal, Spain, and possibly southern coast of France.
I’d also love to be able to make my way back to the west coast eventually as well, SLO, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, Manhattan Beach, San Clemente, Oceanside, just give me good weather, good surf, and good food and I’d be happy.
Como is an incredible place - would highly suggest if you've never been. The lake is massive so theres a ton of different places to stay/explore. I stayed in Tremezzo and Lenno when I visited and they were amazing. The Grand Hotel Tremezzo is probably one of the nicest places in the area, little pricey but worth every cent.
I know it would be a hard life with all the upkeep and everything, but a cabin/beachfront property along the coast in Maine would be great.
Unpopular opinion but:
Assuming I can retire around 50 if I have a nice career in finance, I’d like to retire in Scandinavia.
I’m not a fan of constant and intense heat and countries like Iceland and Norway have amazing nature etc. There’s plenty of stuff to do and houses, education and healthcare are great.
Plus, in the event of a global disaster or breakdown, these countries are pegged as the most likely to survive.
People are great as well.
Scandinavian countries are the biggest consumers of antidepressants because it's basically nighttime at 2pm 6 months a year. Not even talking about the cold and depressing cities and the meek people.
yeah, maybe one of those small towns that's occasionally on the Windows screensavers.
Healthcare I understand, but how does the education system matter to a retiree?
I would think they meant for kids, but that would mean they would have to retire early. Also, could also mean for lifelong learning programs, but we have those in the US already, one of my friends' parents that's retired occasionally takes classes at their local university which are like ungraded lectures. With Norway specifically, idk if it's easy to get resident status for full benefits though.
