How do you 'dress for success'?

Is dressing for success a physical thing; wearing business set clothing, making sure you look presentable in front of your peers, managers, clients, etc.? Or is it more of a mental thing; I'm going to be confident today, I know my stuff, I'm dressing myself for success. Or perhaps, both? What are your guys' opinions on this.

Pressed shirts, suit, shined shoes, clean haircut, coordinated belt/shoes, fitting suit, nice knot on tie, tie proper length (belt length), attention to detail.

I definitely agree with you. I opt in for a great skirt, blouse, heels, etc. I've seen studies where women who wear makeup in the workplace apparently are more successful? Don't know if that is always true BUT I do wear it and it makes me feel a whole lot more confidence. My husband usually opts in for something from http://www.menswearhouse.com/mens-suits/custom-suits-dress-shirts which is always great. Although, we do have to go back and get him a better fitting suit LOL. THNX for your reply!

7 dress shirts is hardly enough. I have somewhere in the 25 to 30 range, which is a bit on the heavy side, but it's nice when I fall behind on my dry cleaning. I suggest you move up to 15 or so. If you only wear a shirt once before cleaning it, this will enable you to do your dry cleaning once a week and miss a week every now and then if needed. At any given point you could have 5 - 10 shirts at the dry cleaners.

It is not necessary, but as per your profile, you have to wear the professional dress. 8-10 dress shirts, 4 suits and 4 pair of shoes are enough for you to have a very good base. In the corporate finance world you have handle or tackle different clients. Some are of good background & some are of not so sound. But you have to present yourself in front of them. So you have to be very specific about your dress. Justwhiteshirts Web Store is a good option for you.

I didn't realize you were a girl. Just go topless.

Why so disrespectful? Maybe we should start a thread on communicating for success.

Per NYC law, topless is fine.

Even though i work in a casual office and on my first day i was told, shirt and trousers and i'm good, no need for a tie, blazer etc, i always wear my suits. More of a confidence thing, i feel way more comfortable in the office and meeting managers when dressed well, so i try to always dress well (have turned up with a mismatched suit jacket, no tie and suede shoes on the day my bosses weren't in)
