I was at a MSF orientation dinner, and I wore my Florsheim dress shoes out. After just walking about 1.5 hours total that night, the back of my heels started blistering at first, then bleeding outright by the return trip to Penn Station.
Strangely, it's only that area and not elsewhere on the foot. This is my 3rd or 4th time wearing the shoes, and previously I'd have pain around the entire foot.
Anyone have recommendations for what to do?

Grit it out until they're worn in.
Alternatively, get a better pair of shoes.
Band aid that shit up until it heals and thick skin forms. Might have to switch shoes for 3 or 4 days. Then ya good.
Stupid thing to ask but do they actually fit you? I always tend to get a size larger.

You can tape up the bits that are prone to blister with zinc oxide tape. Normally works a treat, it acts like an extra layer of skin that gets destroyed instead of your own.
Sounds like they don't fit you... You're not supposed to be in pain to "break" shoes in... Try getting them widened/stretched by a professional.
Also, use a shoe tree.
Used to happen to me all the time. As above, use a bit of tape or even a bandage on the part that bleeds until the shoe gets worn in.
The best thing to do though is get better shoes.
Do you have wide feet? If the shoe is too thin, it might be restricting the give on the back of the shoe.
For breaking in hockey skates I'd use duct tape on the heels until worn in.
The leather is quite hard, so it's digging into my feet. Oddly, my heels never had this issue when I wore it last time.
get mephistos. comfort > fucking up your bones and ligaments.
Give it a few weeks to break in and try thicker socks.

I had this exact problem. Go into any pharmacy or health store (Boots in the UK) and get some 'Compeed'. Its basically a very thick plaster and will considerably reduce the pain until the blisters go down. My shoes are now extremely comfy after having worn them in.

You could go with dress chukkas. The back of your heels would be completely covered.
