Drug Dealing
Has anyone ever been or considered becoming a drug dealer? Feel like doing it on the side for a year or two and then getting out would be reasonably doable (obviously still extremely risky, just not 100% chance of getting caught).

One of my college roommates was a pothead. He knew the guy who would get product in bulk from the city 2 hours away and then distribute it to the dealers on campus. That guy never delt, he was just the plug. Anyway, that dude made plenty of money and even though the school raided his room multiple times, they never found anything and he never got caught.
Once he offered to sell my roommate a couple ounces at $10 per gram, which my roommate could easily move in a week or two for double that. He didn't have the cash to buy in, so I offered to bankroll him for 30% of the profit and total assurance that if he was caught, he wouldn't drag me into it at all and I would claim total ignorance.
You're probably thinking I should have asked for more of a cut, but the security/residence life people at my school were total idiots. I knew we could hide product and would never get it seized.. It was basically guaranteed money. I just didn't want the risk of actually dealing. The dumbass RAs were so innocent- they once busted one of the dealers and found like 12 grams and thought they hit the jackpot. They were so satisfied with their catch that they stopped looking and failed to find the 2 ounces he had in his freezer.
Anyway, I was getting the money together when the plug decided that he wanted $15 per gram, which cut into our margins enough to make it not worth it. So we never bought in. Fascinating stuff though, the economics of the drug trade at a small school..
Lol no one who is "the plug" is charging 420 an ounce. Your story is full of shit or "the plug" thought you looked like such a boner/autist that he could get away charging you that. Being that you called it "product" and saying "the drug trade fascinated you" prolly the latter lol. Surprised he didn't just rob you if this story is true tbh
Small school
I would have robbed you 4 years ago.
had a few friends do it. it's hard to get out.
GoldenCinderblock you're up
He didn't include any detail at all. What level drug dealer? What drug? How are you gonna source product and where are your customers coming from? The guy you buy a dime bag from is not the same guy you buy a pound from. And the guy you buy 8 from isn't the guy who sells one. It's a lot of networking. It's a different business model flipping pounds and selling zones, buying wholesale and selling QPs and shit, and selling dimes. And that's just weed. Coke is more profitable but OP, please don't sell coke. You sound too dumb and soft. Probably don't sell weed either. Go get a real estate license if you want a side hustle. Learn graphic design or something. Produce beats for some local rappers.
You softer than bread fool.
Tread lightly. You start out just selling small amounts to friends and their friends. The money gets intoxicating. You then get larger amounts for a better $/unit value, but need to increase the customer base to continue keeping up with the debt owed to the supplier. So, you start expanding the number of people you're willing to sell to.
I've had firsthand experience with several very, very sad situations during my youth in the 80s and 90s. Several HS and college friends that essentially lost their future b/c of dealing, using or both. Again, the money can be very enticing, but if you get popped with any weight at all, or with intent to distribute, that's one of the auto-felony charges if found guilty. Having a felony on your record is nearly impossible to expunge, and it is an albatross around your neck in hiring situations.
Obviously, things have changed in 20 - 30 years, including a lot of relaxing of marijuana laws in many states. Still, is it worth taking the chance of losing a career, all for a few easy bucks in college?
Didn't know there were so many drug dealer stories on here.
Anyone here in the business of selling anti-freeze, paint thinner, gasoline, and bleach?
A tale of the two poles of modes of operating:
Kid A dealt, was pretty slick about it, worked his way up moving and eventually growing. last i checked he just made vp at a PE firm
Kid B hooked his friends up with on the weekends w small amount, bragged about it, got busted, and cant land a job at a bottom tier retail broker because of background check

This is an interesting interview of infamous drug-dealer Ricky Ross on NPR's "Planet Money".
This has been contrasted and debated on multiple sites with recently published economics papers from Tier 1 & Ivy League schools.
In my opinion, an interesting distraction from the daily grind.
How about posting the link?
