Duke Career Fair - Attend?
Does anyone have experience attending another school's career fair?
I think it's worth a shot if I can get in, but I'm wondering how - if I play my cards right - they would handle an interview with me since I don't go to the school (most come back for on-campus interviews). Would they arrange a series of phone interviews to replace the first round on-campus?
Also, any advice in general for presenting myself as a student from another school? What do you think the overall reaction of recruiters would be?
Thanks for your help.

You have to scan your student ID to get in.

If they interview on campus, would it make sense to do phone interviews?

How will they know if you don't tell them? It's not like this is an interview... they are there to tell you about them. BUT if you make a good impression, show some detailed knowledge about their company, they might ask for your resume.

You seem to go to Michigan, so I don't know if your speaking to the scanning of the IDs because you know someone there or you are assuming. Either way, my school scans IDs too and I've seen people from other schools in our career fair. Bottomline, there's always a way.
If you could understand the context of my statement then you would know I was talking about phone interviews in the case that they wanted to talk with me further. Obviously this doesn't apply to students at Duke who will be interviewing on campus. Doh! Michigan didn't teach you much I guess.
And they got pummeled in the Rose bowl.
Well, where do you go to school? Most banks don't set up interviews at the career fairs I don't think - when I went to mine, it was pretty much a waste of time. It seems like a better idea to try to participate in on-campus interviews at Duke. I know a guy that did this - find a contact in the bank, get him to forward your resume to HR in NYC, then set things up so that you can interview when the bank visits Duke for first-round interviews.
I guess you could try sneaking in to the career fair, but seems kind of shady and I doubt it would do much good.
Sure, when you have First Trust Advisors and Campus Credit Union recruiting, they don't tend to check identification. My suggestion would be to have a friend go in and prop the window.

their reaction would be hey, yet another annoying schmoe trying all the wrong things..except this one couldn't even get into this school. ever heard of networking?
