Duke startup – furnished NYC housing for new analysts

Hey WSO – starting this post to spread the word about Bloc, the real estate startup I founded. We advertised in last week's newsletter.

We contract with NYC landlords to reserve brand-new, furnished apartments for new grads. Our buildings are a great social experience, and we hold events in NYC to help our members get to know each other.

Our goal is to make it easy to book a nice, convenient apartment from a distance. We're working with five NYC properties – sign up at https://signup.bloc.nyc to get our reservation link.

Happy to answer any further questions in this thread. Thanks!

how do you guys make money? finder's fee?

do people still have to pay broker fees if going through your service? i don't live in NYC but work with plenty of people who do and the broker fees to rent an apartment always felt like such a fucking racket to me. i don't know of any other market that has that system

it's a cool idea, i'll give you that. any thought of targeting other cities & industries (SF tech bros come to mind as a potentially good target market)
