During what months did you apply/receive your unpaid internship?

Just wondering when did you guys apply and receive your unpaid internships (particularly PWM). I'm just a freshmen and haven't even received my college GPA yet, do you think it's a good idea to apply now (October, november), or should I get my first college GPA before applying?

Also, I've heard that most unpaid PWM internships are done in regional branches (ex. New Jersey etc.) Is there such thing in NYC, or are all branches in NYC considered major (ex. World Financial Center for ML). Do you think maybe I should apply to branches outside NYC? Thanks

Interested to hear from those who had done unpaid internships before

New Yorker and hungryone, once you were offered the internship, did you have to sign papers and get fingerprint checkings, report SSN etc?

Or was it informal and just "come into my office starting [insert date]"

If it's Merrill Lynch WM for credit or any big name WM office which will most likely require you to receive credit you will need to get fingerprinted and all that

As soon as I accepted the offer, I had to fill out several forms pertaining to the internship and also linking it with college credit and a academic advisor. Also had to submit my fingerprints,SSN etc... for the background check.
