E-Mail to contact Advice
Hi all, I was given a contact from my Dean at school (non-target) ... I had asked her about a career decision and she recommended e-mailing her friend ...
MD at a BB - I had a friend who works there look him up in the database and he roles up under the fixed income group...
He is expecting an e-mail, but this is my first contact so I don't want to screw it up by saying something stupid or writing a long e-mail that will turn him off ...
Note that this is not for a position, but rather about advice he can give me... Does the following e-mail sound appropriate?
"
Hi Mr. XXXX,
I’m a current student at XXXX University and I was given your contact information by Dean XXXX. She suggested that I speak with you about a career decision and I am hoping we can set up a time and date where we can speak over the phone. I am really looking forward to speaking with you.
Thank you,

Any advice is appreciated
Dude...everyone here has/needs to have attention to detail, but have some more confidence. Your email is fine. "I am looking forward to speaking with you" sounds a little more sincere to me than "I am really", but that's just me. Send it out!
Thanks a lot for the input. I made the suggested changes and sent it out. Got a reply back from him with his phone number. Hopefully it will go well on Monday when I call.
