Early MBA from 2nd Tier School - Less work experience

Hi there,

I am currently facing the Early MBA and Less work-experience issue, while searching for I-Banking jobs.

I finished my MBA (Finance) - GPA 3.3 from 2nd Tier school - www.Thunderbird.edu - (overall). School is 2nd tier overall in MBA, however, the school is ranked #1 in International Business speciality by Financial Times and by Wall Street Journal and many other publications. Many alumni are at great places in top banks. However, when it comes to I-Banking, the company seems to be looking at those Top-5 Finance MBA B-school.

I am 24 by age and finished MBA. I did my MBA just after my undergrad school, though I had about 2 years of project-management professional experience, prior to coming to School. While talking to I-banking companies and to recruiter, they dont seem to consider me at Analyst level, as I have an MBA and also, they dont want to put me at Associate level as I dont have Finance related work-experience or I-Banking experience. So, its real dilema for me, about where to start and where to target? I am not even getting single interview, so the question of proving something is out of question.

My undergad is in Engineering field from one of the top Indian Engineering school with 3.5 overall GPA, however, this doesnt seem to be working for me as companies are looking me as career changer, rather than valuing my quantitative skills.

Some people adviced me to focus on Boutique I-Banks, however, can anyone knows the list of boutique I-banks or some related website?

I am currently working as Consultant (SAP ERP-Finance Domain), as that was the nearest job, I could match, with I-banking. I am thinking of working for this Consultancy work-ex for about 2-3 years along with getting CFA certificate. However, still cannt figure out how to break the ice. Goldman and some other banks have standard training program, however, those seems to be getting filled with top-5 Finance B-schools, so it feels not trying that routue.

Any mentor-advice will be valuable !!

Thanks in advance !
