Easiest Offices (in terms of recruitment) at McKinsey, BCG, and Bain??
I recently spoke with a consultant at Bain and he mentioned that Atlanta, Dallas, and Boston were some of the less competitive locations when it comes to recruitment. Atlanta & Dallas because no one wants to live in those areas and Boston due its size.
I was wondering if anyone could comment on some of the offices for McKinsey and BCG. Which ones receive the highest volume of applications/have the highest rejection rates? Thanks!
Varies by year. I tried playing this game, doesn't work that well. Plus, if you have no strong affiliation to an area, it looks strange. They will prod why you want a certain area. for MBB MBA this year, Atlanta turned out to be one of the more competitive offices. Chicago and LA turned out to be easier than usual.
SF is always hard though. So I'd just recommend avoiding that.
Thanks :] This is definitely helpful. Would you apply this to all three or just to Bain? I'm honestly least optimistic with Bain given my connections at other firms, so I'm looking to focus more so on McKinsey and BCG.
If an applicant only has a strong affiliation to 1-2 locations, should they not bother applying to the third? Also, is preference percentage actually considered in the review process or is it just a last minute aid to HR if more than one office extends an invite? I always wondered...
