Eastdil Group Selection

Hey Monkeys,

Looking for some insight into Eastdil groups. For some background, I am looking at pursuing Analyst positions in either Corporate Advisory or Investment Sales. I was wondering what value there is going for Corporate Advisory (similar to IB now that they broke off from WF) over IS. The way I look at it, RE bankers look at deals from a birds-eye view. Generally they are looking at RE firms/REITs as a whole as opposed to performing asset level analysis. On the other hand, IS looks at deals at a more granular level, digging more into how assets operate independently.

Long-term, I want to be in a spot where I am working somewhere that looks at asset deals independently with the hope of one day acquiring and operating my own assets. Based on this, I am more inclined to go with the IS position because I believe that would provide me with a more applicable skill set. However, I do know that a lot of firms/people view IB as more prestigious/valuable than IS. Would I be hindering my exit opportunities by going with the IS team vs the Corporate Advisory team? What valuable skills would I pick up in Corporate Advisory that I would miss completely with IS?

May just be overthinking this but would love to hear some of your guys' thoughts. Thanks!
