ECM in HK

http://news.efinancialcareers.cn/newsandviews_ite…;

Basically it's saying that there's a shortage of labor for ECM divisions. Does this mean that it's easier to get an entry level job in ECM in HK? or does this just focus on upper level management?

proforma, why would u love to get a job in ECM in HK? what i thought was that everyone is fighting to be in a industry group or M&A group. no?

Its true everyone seems to be fighting over M&A positions but I've never been one to follow the crowd. I'm not obsessed with exit ops and I would rather do something I enjoy.

I spent some time in HK and really loved the city. The Hong Kong Exchange is really starting to attract international companies looking to raise capital and their should be a significant amount of equity raising deal flow if the markets stabilize.

As to why ECM, I've looked at all the banking/finance jobs and ECM just seems like a lot fun. I enjoy following the markets and I also like the transactional nature of the group.
