Econ Major with a minor in comp fi.
Hi,
I'm a freshman at Carnegie Mellon hoping to study econ with a minor in computational finance. Will this be good enough for a career in consulting? I currently have a 3.61 GPA.
Any suggestions/tips welcome.

Hope that helps.
That seems like a fine educational background, but obviously you'll need a lot more like internships / etc. to make you a good candidate. As a freshman you aren't expected to get a good internship this summer but make sure you're in the position to get one next year.
I would raise that GPA though - sometimes things under 3.7 can be a bit of a red flag.
You’re totally fine with your educational background. You’re GPA is also fine, don’t stress when others people say to raise it above 3.7 or 3.8, few credible people will ding you over had a point on your GPA. Try to do something interesting this summer (travel/ attempt to start a small business or something) and then get something sophomore summer more directly related to finance. If you keep up the GPA, show some relevant experience/interest, and network with the right people, you will have no problem getting interviews at MBB
