Econometric knowledge in fundamentals?

Hi WSOers,

I've heard about the trend that fundamental funds are shifting towards adding quant into their tool box. Do you guys think in the future quant skills would be needed in fundamental funds as well? I'm currently a finance undergrad planning to take econometric courses. So I guess my true question is how applicable would econometric be in the future, say 5-10 years from now?
