Economics Masters for Analyst Position

With econ major and finance minor (And molec. biol liberal), what is the value of doing a master's in economics at a target school (If I don't land a position right from the undergrad)? Putting down only my major GPA and econ masters GPA is a good idea to land it as an analyst at BB (considering my life sci GPA is low, so cGPA is not impressive)?
I know masters of finance trumps econ masters, but I want to do an MBA in finance later on, and I don't want to be re-learning same material later, and make adcom wonder as to why I'm doing an MBA.

MSF from a top school is the way to go. Everyone knows the MBA is a BS degree so it doesnt really matter what you got a master's in before the MBA; you never mastered the art of BS'ing your way around.

2 reasons Im thinking of econ masters before: 1. it costs me nothing and can raise my chances 2. It can offset unpleasantness of my life sci courses GPA (especially if I put econ major GPA next to masters GPA) 3. If not hired, with a phD (which I think I can do, since I LOVE and am good at math), I can go into HF, etc

Im not "one of those guys" haha. I'm just exploring what options are available to me to make sure I make an informed choice. I'm sure I will do an MSF, but ya I just want to rule out as to what advantages of econ masters are. Also, I really appreciate your advice!

It is actually the MBA that requires prior work experience, and the thing is if you go down the Economics route you are much more likely to be considered for jobs that are more applicable to Economists. These are mostly jobs that have you working for the government or doing market analysis for corporations(IMF, government indices, F500 research) which I don't think you are interested in since you are posting on WSO.

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks

Where are you thinking of do a Masters? Canada?

MA in Economics doesn't seem widly recruited for IBD - honesty, bussinss school seem to have a near lock on IBD in Canada. It's a pain for econ student.

Look at WLU's MA in Bussinss Economics if your sure you want to stay here. It's run by the bussinss school, its coop, and they do place into IBD - though I think you'll likly to end up in some kind of MO role.

There is also U of T's MFE; however, it's hard to get into.
