Emaciation or Corpulence?

So, since you became an i-banker, have you gained or lost weight?

The hearsay abounds; no time to eat, sleep deprivation kills the appetite, small frequent meals keeps the metabolism high and the end result is weight loss.

On the flipside is: working long hours requires more fuel, more food, and an absolute disregard for what you're putting in your body.

All things considered - what has ended up happening to your body?

TireKicker:

The worst part about the transition is feeling like you've turned into a softy.

So true. If I go two weeks without lifting at least twice a week, I can feel the fat taking over. I don't think it really does, because my body doesn't look very differently, but mentally it is killing me

while doing banking, now enjoying easier hours and running every day, it comes back pretty quick - and feels good! must be terrible for the women in banking though....

So true. You subconciously eat a lot more when you are tired and the free-for-all dinner every night really doesnt help. The mental note of "i work so hard, i can not deprive myself of these delicious food" also contributes to my indulgence every night. I have always been a skinny girl growing up..By skinny i mean i never weighted more than 115lbs, and I am a littel more than 5'6". and now less than a year into banking I weight 120lbs..not that much changed but i never have time to workout and I am always exauhsted and i definately feel my legs and arms have gotten flappy and i also lost my once hard as rock stomach....sigh...

I lost 10 pounds during my 10 week internship...I guess I tend not to eat when working hard. Which is bad cause I have to fight to keep on weight anyway (I'm thin and tall). I'm afraid I'll start looking manorexic when I start full-time.

Over time, gain weight. Here's why:

  1. Type & quality of foods: larger dinner portions, great quality food meaning full fats for flavor

  2. Alcohol.

  3. Sedentary lifestyle

  4. Emotional eating.

  5. Metabolism slowing due to age

  6. Less time for exercise.

Yeah I know..but its so hard to get on the list. There is a long waiting list. I bought a stepper at home soem weights but I am always so exaushted when I get home. =( Need motivation

From a very high level: Success is based in 70/30 Diet: Exercise Multiply bodyweight x 12 or 13 (you weigh very little) to achieve amount of calories needed to lose 2 lbs a week Eat optimally in a 40%protein, 40%carbs, 20% fat ratio Take a multivitamin, EFA Drink at least 2L of water a day Eat mainly complex carbs and lean proteins

Focus on weights than cardio

It gets more detailed, but if you have any questions PM me.
