Goizueta at Emory for IB

Hey everyone,

New to the site, so I'm not positive if I'm posting this in the right section of the forum.

I'm an enlightened ex-political junkie who's rekindled a love for the business/finance world wondering how the top IB firms/Wall Street will view an Emory Goizueta undergrad. Recently enrolled at Emory via Early Decision, considering possibly setting myself up for a transfer to McDonough at Georgetown after my upcoming freshman year.

Is Goizueta respectable enough where I can excel in my four years and effectively network for a NYC IB gig, or will I need to transfer to McDonough (etc.) to be competitive? All of my high school extra-curriculars were heavily political based, and my course load was lacking math rigor at times; decided not to apply to McDonough this year for that reason.

Thanks

I wrote this about Goizueta earlier:

"I can only speak to Emory, however, Goizueta has an awesome network on Wall Street that sticks together. That being said, if you want NY, you are going to have to work your ass off. For NY banks, on campus recruiting is Houlihan, Lazard, BMO, Citi (CMO), UBS (internships) the rest will come from your work but again, there are alum at every BB. For southern banks, everyone hires: SunTrust, Wells Fargo, Morgan Keegan, Raymond James + boutiques. "

FYI: there will be 7 Emory alums (Goizueta) at Lazard beginning next year

I am a graduating senior, PM me if you want more information -- stuff that I don't want to write on the board.

if you're interested in business/finance goizueta is the way to go. the bba career center is also a tier above its counterpart in the college. if you stand out (mix of good grades/experience/extracurriculars) you will get looked at by all of the top banks. the alumni network is also very strong, especially in NY.
