Em's new album

So good he sounds like he's back on the drugs. I know some of us are very opinionated on rap/hip hop here (cough Bob cough). What do you think about Eminem trying to bring back the feuding?

I feel like he's been calling out people for years since his roots are all battle rap, but nobody is really biting. He seems like the Dark Knight in search of a joker (or the other way around). Doesn't help that he gets along with Kendrick and J Cole, who are the only real big lyricist rappers that could give him a run for his money.

Album is fire, although I don't know what Em really has left to prove at this point, he sounds really hungry and you love to see it.

Responses I am looking forward to:

  • Budden's response on his podcast (also RIP Akademiks)

  • MGK/Em feud (Rap Devil was ok, great delivery but a lot of lines are weak)

  • Any response by mumble rappers, although I think they're dead to rights

  • Drake... one can only hope. "I got no faith in your writers cause I don't believe in ghosts"

The real core of the issue is that he's calling out rappers who are clearly worse than he is. As you mentioned, there is no Joker. This is not Tupac vs. Biggie. It's like Tupac calling out Vanilla Ice. MGK is arguably the "best" real feud Em has but the battle is over before is starts, could anyone honestly argue in favor of MGK on any dimension? All of the great rappers of the modern day respect Em and also, Em specifically mentioned positively anyone who could potentially challenge him. So like, what is really the point? I don't know, but Em's making good songs again.

Be excellent to each other, and party on, dudes.

Drake hasn't been too afraid to call people out almost by name, so there's hope there. I would love to see the two go at it only because I don't really like Drake that much. They seem pretty different as far as artistic styles though, and with such different values there wouldn't be much to fight over. Em disses Drake for having Ghost writers, Drake doesn't care/see it as a bad thing. Drake boasts about how rich and famous he is, Eminem doesn't care/see that as a good thing.
