End of the networking call/ informational interview
Hey guys,
I had a quick question about the end of networking calls and informational interviews.
For every networking call you have, should the end goal be obtaining a referral or another person to talk to at that person's office? And if so, should you ask to be connected with another person at his or her office at the end of the call, or should that request be made through a thank you email the next day?
I'm kind of split on this. For the most part, I've been sending thank you emails and asking to speak to another person at the firm, but my response rate on thank you emails hasn't been as strong as I'd want it to be.
Should I just nut up and ask at the end of the phone call instead since I have them on the line? Or do bankers usually take a hint near the end of the call and offer a referral.
I'd appreciate some input on this, and thanks in advance.
I usually just sneak it in at the end that I am trying to expand my network within the firm. Ask politely if there is anyone that he/she could introduce you to, or if there is anyone that they know that you should reach out to.
Sounds good, will definitely do that then
Yes, definitely mention it in person before u close the conversation. If they tell u "let me think about some people", remind them in your follow up email. GL
