I'm not too sure about the criteria you are looking for. However, I've spoken to people who suggest starting off a trading career at the majors, it gives you a better understanding of the infrastructure in place that you simply cannot learn as well at a trading house

Vitol is the largest oil/gas trading company in the world and Glencore is #2. BP and Shell are at the top for oil production companies. One name you forgot is Koch Industries, I see a lot of trading positions open for them on the jobs sites, and they're definitely a top 5 player in oil trading.
No one is gonna rank this crap, nor does anyone care. Go find platts rankings by volume if you really want which is bs to begin with. That such a wide range of firms and strategies.
