engineering to banking

I was just wondering if it is possible for undergrads in engineering to get internships or FT in IB? Do you guys know anyone that has done so successfully? I understand engineering GPA's are generally lower than business/econ students but granted someone has the requirements, is it potentially doable? Thanks in advance!

of course, banks dont filter you out based on your major - many kids from various degrees (e.g history, engineering, math) have gone to secure ib sa and ft offers

from my understanding, the technicals you'll get will not be as difficult as finance majors (e,g., do I regress GE to nasdaq to find beta? etc..) but more general accounting/finance (e.g walk me through the 3 statements, etc.)

during the internship, finance kids will have a 'headstart' in terms of knowledge, and there will be a steeper learning curve for you, so it's very important to be engaged and proactive through the internship, especially during training week. the intern that gets a return offer isn't the one who knows the most finance; it's the one with a good attitude whos able to learn. ib is as much if not more about relationships than just numbers!

good luck!! :-)
