Engineer_to_Finance

Dear All,
I have PhD in Engineering and I have >6 years of professional industrial work experience as an Engineer. it is for a while that I am seriously thinking about moving from Engineering to Finance. I am CFA Level 2 candidate as well. I found lots of interest in Finance and I have no doubt that this decision (moving from Engineering to Finance) is not something that I will regret from that in future. Although I am doing lots of research during these days, but I have still some questions that I thought I should share with you and hopefully get some help from you.
1. World of finance is so broad (IB, PE, HF, etc.). As I am so new in this area, which jobs do you think are the best for me to get in to the circle ? I was searching for Financial Analysis (both at specifically investment banking firms and at large corporation like Amazon and Microsoft), but I am not pretty sure if I am a good fit for these positions or not. In Summary: what are the positions that I can apply for them and I can have some hope to get interview ? I am flexible to all US and Canada and I can move without having any restriction.
2. I am doing some online training and self-study as well (such as learning Python for Finance, or Financial Modelling course from WSO). but do you have some other suggestions that I should keep myself busy with them before starting applying for appropriate positions ?
3. for Engineering, I am totally familiar with the format of Resume and what should be included there. is that any specific resources (online firms) that I can count on them for improving my Resume?

In advance, thanks for your help.

Kind Regards,
Mehdi
