Entry level consultant resume - list all or some projects?
Having worked as a consultant for ~2 years after college, I am polishing my resume for a career change and have a few questions. Please find below a sample resume for your reference.
1. How much percentage should be allocated to work section on resume?
After removing leadership and activities from college, my work section is about 60% of the page. Is that considered too much?
2. Consultant work section - project-based or general accomplishments?
I have been involved in four projects so far, all of which are related to the job I am applying for, however, listing four projects makes the consultant work section overwhelmingly long. Is it more recommended to have project-based consultant work section or just list out general accomplishments?
Any comments would be appreciated.
That being said, 7-8 bullets for a project is too long. I'd keep it to 2-3 (you're really looking for where you made the most impact). No more than 2 lines apiece.
Also where is your address, etc? You need a header
Thanks for your detailed comments!
I am applying to tech jobs so I moved the technical skills section up. I will add an interests section per your suggestion.
I would get rid of the quant summary
Start with work experience, list the projects BUT also list any off the desk research / marketing work that you might have done in your two years.
Move technical skills after you college info.
I've looked through my share of consulting resumes in my time and can help more if you need it, pm me.
Thanks for your advice. I will try to add those to my resume.
I'm not a fan of listing discrete projects unless they are called out as "illustrative experience" or "illustrative results". Consultants are supposed to be experts. Four projects does not make an expert.
Otherwise, my advice would be consistent with that provided by others.
Cupiditate aliquam totam eveniet labore maxime. Placeat cum delectus voluptatem sed qui est dicta. Eius et quia perspiciatis.
