EQD Sales vs. CorpDev

Hey everyone,

I received entry-level FT offers for EQD Sales at a tier 2 bank (think HSBC/SocGen/BNP/Nomura) and a CorpDev role focused on LMM deals s&t/markets work and environment much more interesting than M&A – I enjoy the fast paced markets environment a lot better than the mundane tasks that comes with corporate finance work (building decks and aligning logos).

However, I'm mainly concerned about the exit ops – CorpDev seems like it gives me a much more versatile skillset that can make it easier to transition if I decide to do something else later on, while the s&t skillset is much more specific and it'll be hard to move into anything that's not markets related.

Also, I've recently read the other post about sales being a dead end path in 2020, and it doesn't seem like good time to start a career in s&t. My desk is focused more on exotics and structured products, will that help protect me against automation trends?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
