Equity Research For SPACs
I have noticed that there are roles coming out where you are basically covering SPACs? Anyone heard of this or have any clues on what kind of skills this would develop/exit opps?

Yes I had seen jobs for this. More so months ago / last year. Now seemed to have quieted down from what I have seen. I figure the role covers the intricacies of what’s going on in the space. Knows the big sponsors, knows the targets, knows what have been good spacs, bad spacs. Legal stuff and accounting stuff like the PSTH lawsuit announced today I think and the accounting changes months ago maybe. Can maybe lead to joining a spac, investing in spacs (HF maybe) or something like that in the space.
prob kinda similiar to event-driven analysts and the like. Maybe some m&a coverage / investing skills in the merger arb world potentially
What are your thoughts on a transferable skillset to LO or L/S?
Seems like there is still some fundamental analysis, although a little less depth and faster pace.
An advantage it seems to have is that you are not stuck to one given sector like other SS coverage. Isn’t it true that most buyside would prefer generalist coverage experience?
