Equity Research Hours during WFH

It seems that IB and PE have seen an increase in hours worked / level of responsiveness required each week during WFH.

Have you see yourself working more hours / working more weekends in equity research as a result of WFH?

My hours have gotten better honestly since WFH. I am still expected to be responsive but there's much less of my waiting around the office for my boss to finish something at the end of the day, so I get that time back at home. After around 6-7pm I log on as needed versus having to wait around the office. Also with WFH I can sneak in a 30 minute run/peloton ride at lunch or quick ab routine whenever, whereas that wouldnt be possible if I was still in the office.

In the beginning of the pandemic my hours while WFH were so much worse because we were all adjusting and the markets were crazy so I was working a ton of hours. But not that the team is used to this its been great in my opinion and I hope we never have to go back to the office.

That’s awesome to hear. Seems like WFH is being used the way it should to improve lifestyle and minimize time wasted sitting around. Must be the deal oriented environments like IB/PE that suffer from WFH.
