ER training pt2
So I posted a question a while back on ER training because I wasn't sure if the training - or lack thereof - I was getting from my new job was enough or if the company, itself, was the issue. I think there's a general agreement that there really is no "training" for ER. You just read and read and learn as you go. I agree - I mean, how exactly are you supposed to formally teach someone to do research?
A month into my my new job (or, 3 weeks if you don't count the week I took off to study for CFA), and I still find myself just jumping from one financial statement to another, one news article to another, reading whatever I can but not sure what to look for. Add to that, I've literally spoken to my boss just twice in the past month. He's a well-respected research analyst, but I still find myself wondering if this is really what happens in ER or if there's something wrong with or missing in my job.
Then again, it might just be my personality. I love crunching numbers but I'm not an avid reader (I've been trying to get into the habit of reading since it's important for this job, but I'm not quite there yet).
